Business Manager Visa

If you want to start your own business in Japan, or establish a Japanese branch office of a foreign company, you should get permission for "Business Manager" Visa. It is a residential status for activities to engage in the management and the operation of an international trade or other business.The basic requirements and the supporting documents are as follows.

Basic Requirements
The applicant comes under all of the following requirements.
(i) A business office for the purpose of engaging in the business pertaining to the application exists in Japan; provided, however, that if the business has not yet commenced, facilities to be used as a business office for the purpose of engaging in the business have been secured in Japan.
(ii) The scale of the business pertaining to the application comes under one of the following requirements.
(a) The business concerned employs at least two full-time employees in Japan other than those who operate or manage the business.
(b) The amount of the stated capital or the total amount of the contribution is at least 5 million yen.
(c) The scale of the business is recognized to be equivalent to the scale set forth in (a) or (b).
(iii) If the applicant intends to manage the business,the applicant has at least 3 years' experience of operating or managing a business (including any period where the applicant majored in the operation or management of a business at a graduate school), and, receives no less remuneration than would a Japanese national for comparable work.
Supporting Documents
1. In cases where the applicant intends to commence the operation of international trade or other business, or to invest in the business; the following materials are required.
a. A business plan, copies of the company registration and a statement of profit and loss.
b. Material showing the number of the full-time staff expect the foreign national concerned, and in the case where the number of the full-time staff is two, copies of resident cards or registration certificate and documents regarding wage payments of the staff concerned, if applicable.
c. Material showing the outline of the business office.
d. Material certifying the amount of investment made by the applicant.
2. In cases where the applicant intends to engage in management of international trade or other business on behalf of the foreign national who began or invested the business concerned; instead of d of 1, the following materials are additionally required.
e. Documents certifying the career of the person concerned and his or her certificate of graduation with a major in management or administration.
f. Documents certifying the activity, its duration, position and the remuneration of the person concerned.
